Imagining the Future of NYC Life

What if you were asked to improve your city? What would be on your wish list?

Would you want to make it more eco-friendly, beautiful, efficient, and livable?

New Yorkers were offered the challenge-- 500+ ideas were received and now those ideas are being made available to architects, designers, artists, and urbanists so that they can step up to the challenge of creating concepts for those ideas. Pretty neat! It's crowdsourcing at it's best.

The theme for Urban Design Week is by the city / for the city: the public festival aims to engage New Yorkers in the fascinating and complex issues of the public realm, and to celebrate the streetscapes, sidewalks, and public spaces at the heart of New York City.
Together- all of these ideas- from citizens and designers alike will form a collective portrait of how we imagine the future, a crowdsourced testament to the ingenuity to the many people who love this city.
The festival started on September 15 and is running until tomorrow, September 20.

Here are a couple of the challenges highlighted:

Steinway Mansion: Uncovering History and Connecting Astoria
Better Buses: Going Places Where the Subway Won't
Expanding Access 2 the Verrazano Narrow-Bridge
Public Seating Beyond Parks and Playgrounds
There's More 2 Public Art than Sculptures and Statues
