In my Pjs but soul @ Coachella

To all those lovely, cheerful folks dancing their hearts out at the coachella lawns this year... my soul is there with you. Not that you may care, but sadly I don't have a personal relationship with Coachella. We just can't mange to coordinate for a meet. Call it failed kismet if you will...

Technically, through the marvels of YouTube, I can artificially mimic the experience. Fantastic. I appreciate State Farm for sponsoring the brilliant views of the stage performances. My eyes fancy explosions in the sky with a hint of Breakbot.
Hope to get my thirst quenched somehow...

The bad news: many will get terrible sunburns, sweat profusely, obtain grass stains on clothes, and get over charged on food + water.

The good news: somehow it's still epic...

2013, we need to discuss this matter in detail.

For now, I leave you as ¨The Rapture¨ plays drums to the beat...

kids + white canvas

If you think back to when you were a child, do you remember the feeling of seeing white or something ¨blank¨? More specifically,  do you recall having the innate yearning to color and nicely take over the WHITE walls of your house with a crayon or marker? What about the incredible sensation of your art teacher handing you a WHITE ¨blank¨ sheet of paper. The notion of white/blank gives segway into freedom. It means you can release and express to your hearts content all you want within that space. All of this is synonymous with the opportunity to create. It's ironic to consider that with age and as we get older, people have a tendency to be afraid of a ¨blank¨ sheet of paper or canvas. Too much freedom? What deters us, as adults, to embrace the opportunity to create?

The Obliteration Room by Yayoi Kusama functions as a white canvas waiting to be invigorated by its visitors. The interactive project begins invites visitors to contribute to the decor with little colored dot stickers.

¨As with many of Kusama's installations, the work is disarmingly simple in its elemental composition, however, it brilliantly exploits the framework of its presentation. The white room is gradually obliterated over the course of the exhibition, the space changing measurably with the passage of time as the dots accumulate as a result of thousands and thousands of collaborators.¨

Doesn't this look like fun?!?!

Let's make it a happy 2012 year!

By the way, I found this treasure in my last trip to Seoul @ the Kyobo Book Center,
it keeps me smiling. Korea has amazing design, construction, and creativity for all paper goods (agendas, calendars, personal notebook, notebook, etc).

Working Together, Saving Tomorrow Today

... is the theme for the United Nations climate conference in Durban, South Africa which ended today, Sunday, December 11. Ironically, on Saturday night, a 6.5 - magnitude earthquake impacted Mexico's  western Guerrero state, making buildings tremble. Fear + panic spread throughout the region.

In Canada, on December 8, tourists witnessed a male polar bear eating a cub, an incident linked to a theory of cannibalism caused by climate change. Climate change is melting the bear's Arctic hunting grounds forcing then to survive on land for longer. This, therefore, leads the starving animals to turn on their own for food.

2011 experienced extreme weather... flooding, heat waves, wildfire, and droughts. Fact: extreme weather is a result of climate change.

Are we willing to continue on this path of self destruction? It's time to put actions into words. If the intention is to save tomorrow, by all means take action today-- take this commitment to heart and do what is right! In case you weren't aware, doing what is right takes more courage than doing wrong. As a society that inhabits this planet, we require a sense of urgency and immediate accountability for actions (from corporate polluters to government). It's not the people who require protection, it is the planet who is beckoning for our attention and protection. We no longer take the time to appreciate natures wonders nor to respect the ground we walk on.

The reality is this: temperatures continue to rise... business as usual.

What's Unfolding Before Us?

Finical crisis, lack of jobs, failed economies, what's unfolding before us?

A global crisis. A lost generation? Not if we can help it!

Yeap, it's true... things are not in good shape, our economy is failing. As young adults, we are finding ourselves in challenging situations. In response, we are embracing our entrepreneurial spirit by creating our own jobs, engaging in social enterprises, and establishing support systems that strengthen our intention of success.

How do we excel in this environment when it seems that the odds are against us? We forget the old model. It worked for our parents, but things are not the same any more. It's going to take a lot more, including basic ingredients of courage, passion, innovation, collaboration, sustainability and good intention (forget greed, it's not taking our world on a good path).

Words from a citizen of Cairo, ¨Occupy more, find each other, build larger and larger networks and keep discovering new ways to experiment with social life, consensus, and democracy. Discover news ways to use these spaces, discover new ways to hold on to them and never give them up again. Resist fiercely when they are under attack, but otherwise take pleasure in what you are doing, let it be easy, fun even.¨

Conclusion: Let's embrace challenges as opportunities to do great things of which we are proud of as a generation!

What do you think?
